Tower Letterhead

(1) Introduction

LATEST NEWS - Hull Daily Mail Report - 10th August 2006

Welcome to my newly re-organised and extended WebPages dedicated to the memory of one of Hull's most unique cinemas. I was privileged to work as a projectionist at the Tower, until just prior to its closure. The information contained on these pages has been gleaned from personal memories and experiences, the contents of my scrapbook, and from articles in a couple of books, including Remembering The Old Cinemas Of Humberside compiled by Bob Preedy. And Robert Currie’s " Last Complete Performance. "
I am also extremely indebted to Chris Ketchell, of the Hull College Local History Unit, for his invaluable help and photographs, without which a lot of the more recent events sourounding the Tower would not have been included in this re-write. In addition, I am very grateful to Hilary Byers who is the Conservation Officer for Hull City Council, for her help in pointing out a number of errors in the original text.
And now, as the lights dim, it’s on with the show . . . . . .
